MWC2024 | Huawei and Unilumin Co-Launch the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution

At MWC Barcelona 2024, Huawei and Unilumin Group Co., Ltd. (Unilumin) made an exciting announcement as they co-launched the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution. This innovative solution aims to accelerate the transformation of cities into smart cities through the power of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The collaboration between Huawei and Unilumin signifies a significant step forward in promoting secure, sustainable, intelligent, and efficient city operations, ultimately improving city governance and comprehensive city sensing management.

 Solution Launch Ceremony
The Smart Pole Site Joint Solution was officially unveiled at a grand launch ceremony during MWC Barcelona 2024. Dr. Larry Li, Vice President of Unilumin, delivered an inspiring opening speech titled "Multiple Integration, Group Intelligence Collaboration, to Create Smart City Neuron." The ceremony was graced by Larry Li, Eric He – CEO of Digital Site BU, Huawei, and Cui Dongfeng – Solution Director of Digital Site, Huawei, who together released the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution. This momentous event set the stage for the smart city revolution that is about to unfold.

One of the key features of the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution is its ability to facilitate multiple services sharing the same station and network. By leveraging optical and IP network slicing technology, the solution enables the use of a single fiber for multiple networks, including control networks. To ensure the integrity and reliability of data transmission, two-way authentication is performed between the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) and Optical Network Unit (ONU), preventing device forgery. Additionally, the solution incorporates wireless microwave technology, enabling high bandwidth, low latency, and trenchless cabling, resulting in a 60% reduction in single-site construction costs.

In line with the global push for sustainable practices, the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution incorporates smart lighting technology to save energy. Leveraging High-speed Power Line Communications (HPLC), digital street lamps can be quickly upgraded without the need for extensive cabling. The solution also includes radar sensing and intelligent edge gateways, enabling automatic, on-demand lighting control. This energy-efficient lighting solution contributes to a greener and more sustainable urban environment.

Efficient incident response is a critical aspect of city governance and safety. The Smart Pole Site Joint Solution incorporates advanced technologies such as Huawei Cloud, algorithm ecosystem, unified IoT management, and intelligent gateways to enable multi-scenario and multi-device algorithm analysis and intelligent IoT sensing linkage. By leveraging these capabilities, the solution expedites the response to incidents, streamlines city governance, and enhances overall intelligence in managing various urban challenges.

Automated operations and maintenance are key to ensuring the smooth functioning of smart city infrastructure. The Smart Pole Site Joint Solution leverages intelligent gateways, HPLC communication modules, and a one-stop algorithm development platform to support remote real-time fault detection and accurate fault locating. These features significantly reduce O&M costs and improve overall efficiency in maintaining and managing smart city infrastructure.

Digital Site, with its expertise in sensing, connectivity, computing, and energy, plays a pivotal role in developing competitive solutions in collaboration with partners. The company has launched eSight, a platform for pre-integration and pre-verification, and WeSite, a simplified O&M solution. These offerings empower partners to efficiently develop and deploy innovative solutions, further accelerating the intelligent transformation of outfield infrastructure.

Looking ahead, Digital Site remains committed to working closely with partners to launch more scenario-based solutions. By harnessing the power of ICT, these solutions will facilitate the intelligent transformation of outfield infrastructure, bringing about greater efficiency, sustainability, and intelligence to cities worldwide. The collaboration between Huawei and Unilumin sets the stage for future innovations and developments in the realm of smart city technology.

The launch of the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution at MWC Barcelona 2024 marks a significant milestone in the journey towards smart city transformation. With its focus on security, sustainability, intelligence, and efficiency, this solution represents a leap forward in enhancing city operations, governance, and overall urban living. By leveraging the strengths of Huawei and Unilumin, the Smart Pole Site Joint Solution is poised to revolutionize the way cities are managed and experienced, ultimately creating a more connected, sustainable, and intelligent future for all.
