On the Road to Zero Accidents: Brigade Electronics’ Pioneering Collision Prediction System Goes Live

In the ever-evolving world of technology, there is a constant quest for innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life. The transport sector is no different. The latest breakthrough comes from Brigade Electronics, a pioneer in the safety technology sector, with the launch of their novel collision prediction system, Radar Predict.

This system is specifically designed to protect cyclists from incidents with Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs). The company's commitment towards road safety is reflected in the meticulous design and execution of this comprehensive safety solution.

Even before Radar Predict was introduced to the market, it garnered significant attention and positive feedback during customer trials. Testament to Brigade Electronics' innovation, Radar Predict was named the 'Most Innovative Product of the Year' at the prestigious Motor Transport Awards in London, United Kingdom.

The recognition is not only an honor for Brigade Electronics but also a beacon of hope for improved road safety across the globe.

Radar Predict is not just another safety gadget. It represents the perfect fusion of technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The system analyses data such as the vehicle's speed, direction, and proximity to cyclists to alert drivers of potential collisions.

The specially designed algorithm is the linchpin in this system, analysing the data and alerting drivers when a collision is likely to occur.

Incidents involving large vehicles, such as HGVs, are far more fatal than those involving cars. One of the primary reasons for this is the limited 'direct vision' from the HGV cab.

Many collisions between cyclists and HGVs occur due to this limited visibility. Radar Predict addresses this issue head-on, providing drivers with enhanced visibility and minimizing potential collisions.

Radar Predict supports HGV driver visibility via a single dual-radar unit. This unit is fitted to the nearside of the vehicle to provide complete side coverage, including the trailer unit.

A unique feature of Radar Predict is the trailer discovery mode, which detects whether the vehicle is fitted with a trailer and prevents the articulation from causing false alerts.

The system only alerts the driver if a cyclist enters the detection zone and poses a potential collision risk. Radar Predict issues differentiated visual and audible alerts based on time to collision, escalating from an initial notification to a more urgent warning if a collision is imminent.

Radar Predict boasts a detection area of 4.5m x up to 46m, a comprehensive coverage area designed to maximise safety.

According to Corey Heniser, Managing Director at Brigade Electronics in the USA, Radar Predict was developed to address the issues caused by blind spots for HGV drivers. The system ensures full coverage down the nearside of the vehicle and greatly reduces false alerts.

Radar Predict automatically activates when the vehicle is turning, eliminating the need for the driver to select an indicator. This feature ensures uninterrupted, hassle-free operation for the driver.

Radar Predict is not just a safety device, it represents the future of road safety. It embodies Brigade Electronics' commitment to creating safer roads for cyclists and HGV drivers alike. The launch of this innovative system is undoubtedly a significant step towards safer roads.
