Unleashing Firepower: BAE Systems' Game-Changer for the Marine Corps

In the ever-evolving battlefield of the 21st century, BAE Systems (LON: BA) is leading the charge with a groundbreaking addition to their arsenal. They have delivered the first production representative test vehicle (PRTV) of the new Amphibious Combat Vehicle 30mm Cannon (ACV-30) variant to the U.S. Marine Corps for testing. This marks not just a step, but a giant leap forward in the way warfare is conducted.

Garrett Lacaillade, vice president of the amphibious vehicles product line for BAE Systems, has highlighted the game-changing potential of the ACV-30. It drastically enhances the firepower of dismounted Marines, enabling them to find, fix, and engage targets more effectively and efficiently than ever before. This is a clear reflection of BAE Systems' commitment to innovating for the future, in line with Force Design 2030 priorities.

The ACV-30 is the third variant in the ACV family of vehicles. It's not just a product of BAE Systems, but a testament to the fruitful collaboration with strategic partners Iveco Defence Vehicles, KONGSBERG, and the Marine Corps. This formidable military hardware is designed to not only deliver lethal capabilities, but also to introduce new technologies to combat future threats.

The heart of the ACV-30’s lethal capability is the stabilized, medium caliber Remote Turret System, manufactured by KONGSBERG. This system offers unparalleled protection and lethality, while providing ample room for troops and mission essential equipment. The smart design of the remote turret eliminates the space requirement of legacy turreted cannon systems, allowing for better mobility.

BAE Systems is currently in full-rate production with the ACV Personnel (ACV-P) variant and ACV Command and Control (ACV-C) variant. The company is also contracted for the design and development of an ACV Recovery (ACV-R) variant which will provide direct field support, maintenance, and recovery to the ACV family of vehicles.

The beauty of the ACV family of vehicles lies not only in their lethal power but also in their versatility. From open-ocean and ship-to-objective capability to land mobility, survivability, and growth potential, these vehicles are designed to meet the changing operational needs of Marines across the globe.

Each ACV variant shines in its ability to be customized according to the needs of the mission at hand. This adaptability makes the ACV family a valuable asset in addressing the diverse challenges that Marines face in different theaters of operation.

BAE Systems' commitment to the ACV project is evident in its network of production and support locations. From Stafford, Virginia to San Jose, California, and from Sterling Heights, Michigan to Aiken, South Carolina and York, Pennsylvania, BAE Systems ensures seamless production and support for the ACV family of vehicles.

The ACV project represents a new era of military technology, with the ACV-30 as a harbinger of what is yet to come. As future threats evolve, so will the technology designed to counter them.

The ACV-30 is more than just a vehicle; it’s a symbol of BAE Systems' commitment to ensuring that the Marine Corps is equipped with the best. As we look to the future, one thing is clear: the firepower of the Marine Corps has been significantly bolstered, thanks to BAE Systems' innovative approach.
