A Technological Marvel Takes Flight: RB-Y1 Unveiled by Rainbow Robotics

A new era of robotics has dawned in Korea. Rainbow Robotics, a leading pioneer in the field of robotic platforms, has released in-depth specifications of its latest invention, the RB-Y1. This innovative piece of machinery is Korea's first bimanual mobile manipulator, marking a significant step in the country's technological advancements.

The RB-Y1 is not just a robot; it's a testament to the progress of human ingenuity and technological innovation. This humanoid-type double-arm robot is mounted on a wheel-type high-speed mobile base, allowing it to perform tasks in various environments with ease and efficiency.

The bimanual design of the RB-Y1 is a game-changer. Both arms of the robot are equipped with 7 degrees of freedom, enabling it to carry out numerous complex tasks. Furthermore, the robot is designed to contain a single leg with a 6-axis degree of freedom, granting it the ability to move its body as needed.

In a remarkable feat of engineering, the RB-Y1 has the ability to move vertically over 50 cm. This unprecedented capability allows it to perform tasks at various heights, thereby expanding its range of functionality and use.

The RB-Y1 is no slouch when it comes to speed. It has a driving operation speed of 2.5m/s and can perform various types of high-speed turning and sudden acceleration. This is made possible through the use of 20-axis full-body control.

One of the standout features of the RB-Y1 is its ability to safely control its center of gravity using a single leg with 6 degrees of freedom while driving. This ensures stability and precision even during high-speed operations.

The RB-Y1 is not just a technological marvel; it's a reliable workhorse. Developed using core components found in cooperative robots and AMR, it boasts the same level of reliability and performance that is expected from industrial robots.

Despite its 22 axes, excluding wheels, the RB-Y1 can generate complex motions. This is made possible through a teaching process that links the data arm (master) to the robot (slave). Additionally, the robot has been designed with a self-collision prevention function when user teaching is in progress.

In the age of AI, the RB-Y1 stands tall. A simulation environment has been established for the robot to utilize AI, facilitating learning and enhancing its performance capabilities.

With the development of the RB-Y1, Rainbow Robotics has signaled a new era in the robotics industry. In an industry where Generative AI such as ChatGPT and Figure are hot topics, Rainbow Robotics has developed a bimanual mobile manipulator that is in step with the AI era. We can only wait with bated breath to see how this platform will revolutionize existing industrial robots and find its place in countless industrial sites.
