Orbitworks: UAE’s Bold Leap into the Cosmos with Loft Orbital

San Francisco and Abu Dhabi might seem worlds apart, but they’ve united for something out of this world—literally. Marlan Space, hailing from Abu Dhabi and affiliated with International Holding Company (IHC), has teamed up with Loft Orbital to create Orbitworks. This powerhouse partnership is set to launch the Middle East’s first private space infrastructure company, marking a monumental milestone in the UAE’s rapidly growing space sector.

Orbitworks is not just about shooting for the stars; it's about redefining the space game. With an initial investment of over $100 million, this venture aims to produce up to fifty 500 kg satellites annually. Loft Orbital, with its extensive expertise and stellar reputation, is the perfect co-pilot for this cosmic journey, supporting a wide range of missions across telecommunications, earth observation, and scientific research.

First things first, Orbitworks is rolling up its sleeves to construct a state-of-the-art facility. This isn't just any building; it's where the magic happens. Equipped with advanced hardware, software, and industrial technologies, this facility will handle the integration and testing of satellites.

Imagine walking into a place where the future is being built piece by piece. The facility will be buzzing with engineers and tech enthusiasts working on the next big thing in space exploration. It's like stepping into a sci-fi movie, but it's all real, and it's happening right in the UAE.

Orbitworks isn't wasting any time. They’ve already secured components for their first ten satellites, and the first one could be launched as early as the first quarter of 2026. This is not just about putting satellites in orbit; it's about making a statement. Orbitworks will help Loft Orbital realize its vision of flying any payload for any customer in the shortest time to orbit.

Think about it—by 2026, we could be seeing the first of many satellites launched by Orbitworks, marking the UAE's entry into the elite club of space-faring nations. This is not just a win for Orbitworks; it's a win for the entire region.

Orbitworks is not just about looking outward; it’s also about fostering local talent and partnerships. They aim to collaborate with local component manufacturers and technology providers in the UAE. Leveraging Loft Orbital’s solutions, they plan to achieve seamless technology integration.

This is a golden opportunity for local industries to step up and be part of something groundbreaking. It's like building a spaceship with the best parts from your own backyard. The first satellite platform is expected to be assembled, integrated, and tested by early 2025. The recruitment drive has already begun, focusing on hardware, software, test engineering, and other aerospace engineering disciplines.

Orbitworks is not just about hardware; it's also about brains—artificial ones. The UAE has built one of the most advanced AI ecosystems globally, and Orbitworks plans to collaborate with AI companies and research organizations. They aim to provide a simple pathway for these entities to deploy their apps to orbit.

Imagine AI-driven satellites that can make intelligent decisions in real-time. The possibilities are endless—from advanced earth observation to smart telecommunications. This collaboration could put the UAE on the map as a leader in space-based AI applications.

Pierre-Damien Vaujour, CEO of Loft Orbital, couldn't have said it better: “We have long believed in the dynamism and growth of the UAE’s space sector, and we are proud to be playing a small part in the country’s journey to becoming a space powerhouse.” From the moment they first met with Marlan Space, they were excited about their vision for bringing scaled production and operations of LEO satellite constellations to the UAE.

This partnership is more than just a business venture; it’s a bold leap into the cosmos. Orbitworks is set to redefine the space infrastructure landscape, not just for the UAE, but for the world. So, buckle up; the UAE is set to soar to new heights, and Orbitworks is the rocket fuel driving this cosmic journey.
